Lotus Thai Bistro Providing Hot Meals for the Hungry

June 25, 2020

We made another round of dinner donation to WeHOPE shelter in East Palo Alto on June 24, 2020. This time, we delivered large trays of yellow curry, pad see-ew, chicken satay, eggplant stir-fry, and white rice. After passing the temperature check at the entrance of the WeHOPE facility, we were invited to help serve dinner, so we stayed and got to learn more about the wonderful work WeHOPE is doing. In addition to providing a safe space, WeHOPE offers job/life skills classes, hygiene services, and fresh food distributions. WeHOPE has even expanded and added more beds since the start of Covid-19 pandemic. What an impactful organization!

It's truly a humbling experience seeing how WeHOPE helps those in need. Covid-19 may have slowed things down for many, but the shelter has never been busier! We're happy to give our support by offering hot meals, and we'll continue to donate.

We want to give a big thanks to our donors who contributed to our initiative -- please know you are bettering our community! Come be a part of our journey @ gf.me/u/x4nmz5

Helping Our Community During Covid-19 Pandemic

May 28, 2020

Since the shelter-in-place order went into effect in the Bay Area mid-March, our restaurant has seen the quietest, emptiest California Avenue. Yet, we remained optimistic and maintained our regular business hours for take-out orders. Through the support of our community, we are able to sustain ourselves, so we wanted to help those who are having more difficult times during this pandemic. We researched and found Project WeHOPE, an emergency and homeless housing shelter in East Palo Alto.

On Memorial Day 2020, we made our first food donation to WeHOPE. Our large catering trays of pad thai, red curry, broccoli stir fry, samosa, and jasmine rice fed 25 residents and 10 staff of the shelter. We met Ms. Joyce, the food coordinator, who was so thankful for our food. Learning that WeHOPE serves hot meals twice a day to those in need, we would like to donate more frequently.

We invite you to join our donation efforts. The easiest way is to donate to our gofundme account @ gf.me/u/x4nmz5. Also, if you want to recommend other local non-profit organizations, please message us. Thank you for your support. Be well.
